At PHD Veterinary Services, we specialize in diagnosing and treating medical and surgical conditions that affect the performance of equine athletes. Our focus includes lameness as well as respiratory, cardio-pulmonary, and metabolic diseases.

At PHD Veterinary Services, formulating the right treatment plan is as crucial as diagnosing poor performance in horses. Often, lameness is the primary issue. We develop effective treatment plans using various therapeutics to address the specific needs of each horse.

A performance evaluation is a comprehensive physical exam that focuses on your horse's fitness, soundness, and overall performance capabilities. Our comprehensive general wellness exams include a thorough evaluation of your horse's health. We also provide annual and bi-annual vaccinations, Coggins blood testing, and other essential preventative measures both in the clinic and on the road.

At PHD Veterinary Services, we offer a comprehensive range of reproductive services designed to support every stage of the breeding process. Our expert team provides detailed pre-breeding evaluations to ensure your mare is in optimal health, along with advanced reproductive technologies to maximize conception rates. We specialize in both natural breeding and artificial insemination, including handling and storage of frozen semen.

At PHD Veterinary Services, we offer comprehensive equine dental care both at our clinic and through our mobile service. Dr. Hodge utilizes advanced equipment to perform routine dental exams, floating, and corrective procedures.

At PHD Veterinary Services, we understand that emergencies can happen at any time.

We travel to current clients within a 30-mile radius of our clinic to handle emergencies, providing prompt and professional assistance.

Neurologic Exam

At PHD Veterinary Services, we prioritize your horse's neurological health through our comprehensive neurologic exams. Dr. Michael Porter, a board-certified internal medicine specialist with nearly 20 years of experience evaluating horses with neurologic disease, leads our team. These exams assess your horse's nervous system & detect any signs of neurological disorders, such as cervical vertebral stenosis (wobblers syndrome), EPM, trauma, or other conditions affecting coordination and mobility.

Cardiac/Respiratory Wellness

An often overlooked cause of poor performance in horses is an abnormality within the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Dr. Michael Porter, with his extensive background and specialty training in equine internal medicine, leads the team at PHD Veterinary Services in identifying and treating these complex conditions.
