Dr. Michael Porter
Owner, DVM, PhD, DipACVIM
Dr. Michael Porter, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and moved to Gainesville, FL, in 1992. By 1994, he had earned a Master of Science in reproductive physiology of horses, followed by both a PhD and a DVM from the University of Florida in 1998 and 2001, respectively. As a board-certified internist, he joined UF's faculty in 2004, creating the Mobile Equine Diagnostic Service (MEDS). In 2010, he founded PHD Veterinary Services, establishing a clinic in Newberry, FL, in 2020 and expanding with a rehabilitation/layup barn in 2022.
Dr. Devon Hodge
Associate, DVM
Dr. Devon Hodge, with over nine years of equine veterinary experience, has passionately served Florida's equine community. Raised in New Jersey, her love for horses blossomed through the Hunter/Jumper circuit. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Monmouth University and a veterinary degree from the University of Missouri, followed by an internship at Carolina Equine Hospital. Specializing in podiatry, reproduction, and acupuncture, Dr. Hodge's FEI accreditation has seen her at events like The Hampton Classic and WEC-Ocala.
Dr. Stephanie Helinger
Associate, MS, DVM
Dr. Stephanie Helinger, originally from St. Petersburg, FL, has a rich background in animal science and equine care. She earned her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida in 2010 and an M.S. in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology in 2011. Starting her career with PHD Veterinary Services as a veterinary technician, she later earned her DVM from the University of Florida in 2023. After completing a rotating internship at Ocala Equine Hospital, her interests now include lameness, sports medicine, podiatry, and preventative medicine. Dr. Helinger remains active in the equine community with her horse, Lola.
